Why are Milo’s GPS stats slightly different from other apps?
It’s totally normal to see small differences between Milo, Strava, Apple, Garmin, and other platforms. Even when the data comes from the same device, each app processes GPS points a little differently.
Why this happens
1. GPS isn’t perfect
Your watch records a series of location points every few seconds. Each point has a small margin of error. If you connected those raw points directly, the result would be jagged and inaccurate.
2. Every app smooths the data differently
To fix this, each platform uses its own smoothing algorithm to clean up the GPS path and estimate the true distance and elevation.
Because these algorithms are unique, small differences in distance or elevation are expected.
What Milo does
We apply our own smoothing approach designed to be accurate and realistic, and we are always refining it. Differences of a few tenths of a mile or small elevation discrepancies are normal across all platforms.
